Healthy, strong family relationships are foundational to young people’s growth, learning, and well-being.

These relationships build strong social and emotional strengths that kids use throughout their lives.

But great family relationships don’t just happen..

Welcome to My Discovery Destination!

Discovery Family Adventures

where your family can find plenty of opportunities to

The Discovery Family Adventures provide ideas, activities, and experiences to help build strong family relationships.

Our goal is to strengthen family relationships to help kids be and become their best selves

and to support parents in raising happy, successful, resilient kids in an exciting,

but sometimes turbulent and dangerous world.

Core Adventures are still available via the website for use by anyone that wants them, but everyone is encouraged to use the Discovery Hunt (Goosechase) App for hundreds of adventures throughout the year.

Snowball Fight

Family Adventure

GOAL:  Fun, Exercise and Laughter

The ADVENTURE:  Have a friendly family snowball fight!

TIPS:

 Hot chocolate!!

Each child gets to pick a game to play one round of around the warm fireplace!

Let's face it-- the reward of having a snowball fight is the inherent FUN of getting to throw snowballs at each other, as long as everyone is a willing partner. If you need to move the snowball fight indoors with cotton snowballs, go for it! But then get involved and enjoy the giggles, laughter, and sheer joy of  missing the mark, hitting the mark, and everything else that happens when the snowballs start flying!

The traditional way for a snowball fight is to brave the cold and enjoy the laughter and craziness of the whole family throwing the soft fallen snow at each other. However, if you are like me and prefer to be warm, feel free to adapt this Adventure. For me that means a set of big soft cotton snowballs from the local Walmart. For that matter, you could use a bag of regular cotton balls or even 8 /2" X 11" paper wadded up into balls. The point is to have FUN together and build bonds.

Of course, whether the snowball fight takes place out in the cold or in the warmth of the house, following up with hot chocolate is always a good idea!

Pre-K Adventure

Little Adventurers will love being part of the action! Be sure they have plenty of chances to be successful

Community Engagement Adventure

The only thing better than a family snowball fight is a NEIGHBORHOOD SNOWBALL FIGHT! Grab some friends and have some fun!

Here are some ideas you may want to try:

Make it a progressive snowball fight where the 'fight' moves from house to house

Start the event with a snowball competition first . . . divide into teams and see which team can create the biggest pile of snowballs for the fight.

What ideas do you have for making your snowball fight unique?

Teen Adventure

Let Teens explore the 'science' of snowballs. What makes a snowball stay together? What keeps a snowball safe? How do trajectories and angles work?
