Healthy, strong family relationships are foundational to young people’s growth, learning, and well-being.

These relationships build strong social and emotional strengths that kids use throughout their lives.

But great family relationships don’t just happen..

Welcome to My Discovery Destination!

Discovery Family Adventures

where your family can find plenty of opportunities to

The Discovery Family Adventures provide ideas, activities, and experiences to help build strong family relationships.

Our goal is to strengthen family relationships to help kids be and become their best selves

and to support parents in raising happy, successful, resilient kids in an exciting,

but sometimes turbulent and dangerous world.

Core Adventures are still available via the website for use by anyone that wants them, but everyone is encouraged to use the Discovery Hunt (Goosechase) App for hundreds of adventures throughout the year.

Make It Happen!

Family Adventure

GOAL:  Encourage family members to think about their dreams and what they would like the world to be in the future.

THE ADVENTURE:  Write down or draw a picture of a dream you have for your life.

TIPS:

First and foremost, LISTEN INTENTLY as your child tells you about their dreams and goals. Be supportive in your body language and words.

Think of something you could do that is tied to the child's dream. For example, if their dream is to be a firefighter you might want to schedule a time to visit the local fire station. If their dream is that everyone in the world would have enough food to not be hungry you may want to help them deliver a few cans of food to the local food pantry to show them that, even though they can't feed everyone in the world, everyone can do something to help.

The “I Have a Dream” speech by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was delivered during the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. He gave the speech at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. to  express his notorious hope for America and the need for change.

We all have dreams . . . dreams for what we want to be and do, and dreams for what we want the world to be like.  The first step to realizing our dreams is to identify them.  This Adventure gives you an opportunity to think about and put on paper what your dreams are.  Whether you write it out or draw of picture of it, try to include as much detail as you can. Be specific!  Make your dream literally jump off the page with clarity.   This is YOUR DReAM!!

Pre-K Adventure

Little Adventurers can draw out their dreams, and they will LOVE dressing up!

Community Engagement Adventure

Expanding this 'Adventure' out into the neighborhood and your community, think about a dream you have for your community and the world around you. After identifying the change you would like see in your community, here are some questions you might want to ask yourself:

If I could make any change in my community, what would it be?

What vision do I have for my community? And what would need to be done to make it happen?

Who do I know that could help me make the desired change I envision? Who else would I need to bring on board?

Next step? Go out and make it happen!

Teen Adventure

This is an important Adventure for teens! If they haven't thought about their dreams up to this point, it's time to start. If they have, this is a great opportunity to really get focused and move forward with their dream.
