Family Adventure
GOAL: Encourage each family member to develop new talents throughout life.
THE ADVENTURE: Have each family member identify a new talent they would like to develop. Do something at least once each week (or daily as appropriate/possible) to work on that talent.
TIPS:
Compliment them on their progress all the way through the process
Notice the time and effort they are putting into developing their talent. Remember to acknowledge the effort along with the results
Help them find opportunities to showcase their new talent. Arrange for them to perform at a community event or in at a church event.
Support their efforts! Are there supplies or tools that would help them? If the budget allows, get them the tools that they need.
Help them connect to people who can mentor them and help them improve.
Talk about their efforts and hard work with family and friends, and even on social media when appropriate.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
It is important for parents to participate in developing new talents as well. This will set a good example for the kids and help them develop a lifelong habit of developing new habits
Remember that talents come in many different forms. There are talents you DO like dance or music, and there are talents you BEcome like kind or honest or being a good friend. Here is a list to get you thinking, but this is just the beginning. There are many, MANY MORE -- just ask yourself 'what is something I've been wanting to be better at?'
