We believe it is a GREAT way for kids to explore their talents and develop new ones, which is a key focus of My Discovery Destination! With this in mind, we have scheduled a series of Arts Adventures to support the local PTA Reflections program, and to provide all local youth with an opportunity to:
√ Learn about the specific art form
√ Have an interactive experience with the art form, and
√ Gain access to an expert in the art form that can answer questions that may come up

So what is the Utah PTA Reflections program all about?
Check out this AWESOME video for a great overview:
My Discovery Destination! works with local PTA units to provide these special Adventures focused on the 7 Reflections categories. These Adventures are approximately one hour events where kids in local schools have an opportunity to see a demonstration, have an interactive experience with the art, and meet an expert. There is a short Q&A at the end of the event to allow kids to ask questions.
Benefits:
√ Kids get increased exposure to the Arts!
√ PTAs have increased participation in the Reflections program and help with awards for winners and participants
√ The hosting Business gets to engage with the school and the students and share their story and the unique benefits they offer the community.

Why does the PTA Reflections program matter?
Participation in the arts builds students’ confidence, teamwork and sense of accomplishment. Involvement in the arts is also closely associated with students’ academic achievement, social and emotional development, and civic engagement. The Reflections program encourages students of all ages to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice—dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography or visual arts—that reflect on the annual theme. There also is a special artist division to provide all students the opportunity to participate in the program. Submissions are reviewed by visual, literary and performing art experts, and students are recognized for their artistic ingenuity in bringing the theme to life. National PTA has long believed that all children deserve the opportunity to take part in the arts, recognizing the impact they have on student success, in the classroom and beyond.
