Build a Snowman

Family Adventure

GOAL:  Have a lot of family fun while also using your creativity, communication and teambuilding skills.

The ADVENTURE:  Build a snowman!   Have fun!!

TIPS:

 Hot chocolate!!

Build Marshmallow snowmen as a treat.

Each child gets to pick a game to play one round of around the warm fireplace!

Make a BIG DEAL about the creativity and cuteness of the snowman, and the effort it took to build it.

Create a little something for the snowman-- give him a heart, or put a bird on his shoulder, or an extra scarf  because he is so cold out there. Showing this little 'kindness' to the snowman will be a kindness to the builders of the snowman!

Make up a story about the snowman. You can get the whole family involved in this and create an entire life history for your snowman/men!!

Read a favorite story about snowmen

  Sing the Snowman song . . . 'Once there was a snowman, snowman, snowman . . ."

Encourage the kids to name the snowman, and then talk about him as if he were a member of the family.

If you choose to have a contest you could make special badges for the winning snowmen to wear

Depending on your family situation, you may want to make special badges for each snowman and then choose an award for each-- Most Creative, Tallest, Best Dressed, Happiest, Goofiest, etc.

If you want to double the fun turn it into a contest. Whether you do it individually or in teams, take time to really enjoy being together.

Community Engagement Adventure

Ready to get the whole neighborhood involved?

Organize a Neighborhood Snowman Display. Here are some steps to get you started:

❏ Decide on the details: When? Who? Will you have a theme? Will there be prizes? Any rules or recommendations?

❏ Design a flyer or invitation to let your neighbors know the plan

❏ Be sure you communicate how neighbors can get questions answered.

❏ What prep will be needed?  What help will you need?

❏ What will be needed during the event? Who will you need to help you?

❏ What will be needed as follow-up? Will there be awards and recognition? Will you send out a 'Thank You' flyer or note?

ENJOY!
