Family Adventure

GOAL: Create a picture/video record of your family memories to be enjoyed now and for years to come!

The ADVENTURE:

Since your cell phone is usually with you, you probably take hundreds of pictures and videos each month! These pics/videos are great reminders of family memories- the things you did together, things your kids accomplished, things that made you laugh, etc. Let's take all those memories and organize them in a way that will make it easier to show them to your kids!

TIPS:

The natural reward is being able to look back through pictures and videos with your kids! Chances are, they'll enjoy watching home videos or hearing about/seeing pictures from when they were younger. It's fun to look back through vacation photos/videos too!

Leave your scrapbooks on the bookshelf for your kids to enjoy. It'll promote positive feelings toward family activities and help them better remember their experiences/achievements!

Start small! If you have years worth of photos that are just hanging out on your phone or in the cloud, start with this month. Or this year. Whatever you do, it'll be better than nothing!

There are plenty of different ways to organize your pictures and videos. Here are just a few options:

→Create scrapbooks (These can be "cutesy"... or not! It can be whatever you want it to be. Maybe you love scrapbooking. Or maybe all you can manage to do is put the picture on the page, no borders or background color. BOTH are great. Even if it's simple, it still puts the memories into a book to be enjoyed!) There are tons of options online for scrapbooks if you want to go that route.

→Create a private Youtube channel where you can upload videos. You can turn your pictures into slideshow type videos, too. Wouldn't it be fun to watch one of these videos with your kids before family dinner once a week? Or before family game night? Etc.

→Print favorites and put them in photo frames around your home

→Your phone probably does this for you to an extent. Check out the daily "memories" photos it pulls up or watch some of the videos it makes to remind you of "this day last year." Look at these/watch these with your kids and tell them about when/why the pictures were taken!

→Start (or add to) a blog. (You can make this private!) It's a great combo journal/scrapbook online that you'll be able to look back through.

→Just print some fun pictures and staple them for kids to look through if the above options sound overwhelming!

→Maybe you already have a great system! That works too! The idea here is to put those photos somewhere where your family will look at them and remember the fun family times! Rather than just having your pictures hanging out digitally never to be looked at again!

Little kids love to see pictures of themselves! Let them help pick out pictures to put in photo frames around your house or to make a collage with. Put scrapbooks/photo books in their bedrooms for them to read before bed. You can even make a simple photo book by printing 10-20 pictures and simply stapling them or using a hole punch and some string
